The trail head for hell brook is about a mile up route 108 towards the Notch in Stowe, Vermont. The trail is a real challenge and it goes straight up the face of Mt. Mansfield. Its called Hell for a reason. However, the vertical climb does enchant one with exciting views and adds a fun element to the hike. There are points where one feels, s/he is bouldering/rock climbing rather than hiking. Definitely not a trail you would want to try in bad weather or just after rains. Top of Mt. Mansfield is the largest reserve of Alpine Tundra in Vermont. Mt. Mansfield is also the highest peak in Vermont and offers unprecedented views of Lake Champlain, The Adirondacks Mountains and The Green Mountains.
